HC Deb 28 May 1908 vol 189 cc1249-50
MR. J. DEVLIN

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he could state how many of the Irish local authorities had accepted the offer of Mr. Nathan Strauss to supply plant for the Pasteurisation of milk; and whether the Local Government Board is taking any action with regard to this offer.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Local Government Board are not aware that any local authority in Ireland has accepted the offer. Under the existing law a sanitary authority has no power to expend the rates in maintaining Pasteurising plant. It appears to have been one of the conditions upon which the offer was made that the plant should be so maintained.
