HC Deb 28 May 1908 vol 189 c1250
MR. VINCENT KENNEDY (Westmeath, N.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he will say when the last Sub-Commission sat at Cavan for Cavan Union land cases; have the decisions been given yet; how many fresh cases are now listed for the same division; and when will the next sitting be likely to be held.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The last sitting of a Sub-Commission at Cavan took place on 10th December, 1907. In twenty-two cases then heard, the decisions have not yet been given owing to the fact that the lay assistant commissioner has been employed on special duty under the Local Government Board. He will resume duty on 1st June, and the outstanding cases will then be disposed of Nineteen fresh applications have been received from the district, and these will be listed for hearing as soon as possible, regard being had to the claims of other districts.
