HC Deb 26 May 1908 vol 189 c932
MR. R. DUNCAN (Lanarkshire, Govan)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty if the arrangements lately made or now in negotiation with the Commonwealth of Australia include obligations regarding coaling stations on the Australian coast or in the Southern Pacific.

MR. McKENNA

The Answer to the hon. Member's Question is in the negative.

MR. R. DUNCAN

asked whether the reply in the negative indicated a negative policy in regard to facilities for coaling His Majesty's ships on the Australian coast or in the Southern Pacific.

MR. McKENNA

No, Sir. The reply in the negative applies only to the particular Question which the hon. Member asked me.

MR. R. DUNCAN

Will the right hon. Gentleman make inquiry into this subject?

MR. McKENNA

I have made inquiry, but I will certainly make further inquiry.
