HC Deb 26 May 1908 vol 189 cc955-6
MR. JAMES O'KELLY (Roscommon, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether his attention has been drawn to the condition of the Mount Dillon River, North Roscommon, and to the results arising from the periodical overflowing of the same; and whether it is proposed by the Government to do anything to improve upon the present state of affairs in the districts affected.

MR. BIRRELL

I have received representations as to the condition of the Mount Dillon River, and have consulted the Board of Works on the subject. I learn that the river is not in any drainage district, and that the kind of works desired by the people cannot be carried out except by the formation of such a district. In the circumstances it does not seem possible to undertake a drainage scheme for the locality at present.
