HC Deb 20 May 1908 vol 189 cc296-7
MR. LONSDALE

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Standing Committee of the Irish Catholic Bishops have signified their approval of the Irish Universities Bill.

MR. BIRRELL

I have neither obtained nor sought any information as to the Standing Committee of the Catholic Bishops. As several of that body have expressed their willingness to serve on the proposed temporary governing bodies of the new University of Dublin and its colleges, I assume that they are not opposing the scheme.
