HC Deb 18 May 1908 vol 188 c1610
MR. McHUGH

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he has observed that the funds placed at the disposal of the Congested Districts Board and of the Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction for the development of the sea-fishing industry are insufficient; and whether he proposes to have these funds augmented.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) Though considerable sums have been, and are still being, expended upon the development of sea fisheries in Ireland, I have no doubt that additional funds could be usefully devoted to that purpose if they were available. I am not, however, in a position to hold out any hopes of an immediate increase of funds.
