HC Deb 14 May 1908 vol 188 c1345
MR. DELANY (Queen's County, Ossory)

I beg to ask the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) whether there are gentlemen in the Department's Veterinary Branch who have fourteen years continuous service, and who are doing higher class duty, but who are being denied the right of entrance into the second division because of the opposition of certain higher officials; and whether such opposition will be allowed to persist.

THE VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOR IRELAND (Mr. T. W. RUSSELL,) Tyrone, S.

There is no foundation for the allegation in this Question.

MR. DELANY

How is it the hon. Gentleman allows the chief clerks to get the blind side of him?

MR. T. W. RUSSELL

At the hon. Gentleman's own request I personally investigated this matter, and the answer I have given exactly expresses my own views.

MR. DELANY

Oh, I knew these gentlemen before the hon. Gentleman did.
