HC Deb 07 May 1908 vol 188 cc434-5
MR. JOHN O'CONNOR (Kildare, N.)

I beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether he can state the amount of money standing to the credit of the Registrars of County Courts in the Post Office Savings Bank on the 31st day of March last.

MR. SYDNEY BUXTON

I regret that the figures asked for by the hon. Member are not available. They are not required for Departmental purposes; and their special preparation would involve considerable labour and some expense. The latest returns available show that on the 30th of June, 1904, the sum of £301,770 6s. 9d. stood to the credit of accounts opened by Registrars of County Courts under the County Courts Acts and the Workmen's Compensation Acts.

MR. JOHN O'CONNOR

And are the sums included in the "savings of the people"?

MR. SYDNEY BUXTON

asked for notice.
