SIR GILBERT PARKERI beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can give an estimate of the amount of British capital invested abroad during the last ten years; and if he can also state at the same time the income received from foreign investments during the last ten years respectively.
§ MR. HOBHOUSEI will refer the hon. Member to the statistics given on page 217 of the Fiftieth Report of the Commissioners of Inland Revenue (Cd. 3686 of 1907) which gives the only figures available on this subject, and to the remarks on page 216 of the same Report which explain why fuller statistical information is not available.
