§ MR. COURTHOPE; To ask the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether, seeing that the Admiralty revised the rates of pay granted to their writing staff on 1st April, 1907, the War 396 Office will undertake a similar revision in the case of Army Ordnance writers.
(Answered by Mr. Acland.) The conditions of entry into the Admiralty service for writers are more stringent than in the service of the War Department, where there is no entrance examination, and the remuneration of the former is accordingly greater.
