HC Deb 24 March 1908 vol 186 c1194
MR. W. T. WILSON (Lancashire, Westhoughton)

To ask the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the firm of Higgins and Pashley, of Wakefield, who have secured the contract for an alteration to the Post Office in that town, have sub-let the carpenters' and joiners' work to a Mr. Lazenby, who does not pay the standard rate of wages; and whether he will take steps to compel this employer to observe the spirit and letter of the Fair Wages Clause.

(Answered by Mr. Harcourt.) My consent has been asked for this sub-letting but, before granting it, I am making inquiries in order to satisfy myself that the Fair Wages Clause will be observed.
