§ MR. CARLILEI beg to ask the President of the Board of Education, what is the difference in cost for the maintenance of a place for a child in a provided and also in a non provided school in the West Riding of Yorkshire this year, in comparison with 1906–7, 1905–6, 1904–5, 1903–4.
§ MR. MCKENNAThe financial statements of local education authorities do not show separately the expenditure upon council schools and voluntary schools and it is, therefore, impossible to state the difference in cost between them.
§ MR. CARLILECannot the right hon. Gentleman give some indication? Will he endeavour to get it from the West Riding authorities?
§ MR. MCKENNAThey are under no obligation to give it to me. I shall be happy to ask for it, but I have no power to insist.
