MR. CARLILE (Hertfordshire, St. Albans)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Education it he will state to what purposes the money left by the late Dr. Hinchliffe, of Dewsbury, for the promotion of higher education in Dewsbury, has been put sine the County Council took over the management of education in the West Riding.

The funds in question have been applied under Charity Commission Schemes of 24th August, 1900, amended by a Scheme of 3rd July, 1902, for purposes which may briefly be described as: (1) General maintenance of the Wheelwright Grammar Schools (Boys and Girls), and Technical School in Dewsbury; (2) provision of free places at the Technical School Evening Classes; (3) provision of scholarships and exhibitions tenable at or from the Wheelwright Grammar Schools.
