HC Deb 12 March 1908 vol 185 c1752
MR. COURTHOPE (Sussex, Rye)

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether His Majesty's Government intend to set an example to other employers of labour by themselves giving opportunity and encouragement to Government employees to join the Territorial Force.

THE CHANCELLOR OF THE EXCHEQUER (Mr. ASQUITH,) Fife, E.

Subject to the requirements of the service both in time of peace and in time of war, it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to afford to those employed in public departments every reasonable facility for joining the Territorial Force

MR. COURTHOPE

Does that apply to the employees at Chatham Dockyard?

MR. ASQUITH

There is a question to the Admiralty on that subject.
