HC Deb 11 March 1908 vol 185 c1522
SIR GILBERT PARKER

I beg to ask the Prime Minister whether it is the intention of this Government to cooperate with the Canadian Government and the Canadian people in the preservation of the battlefields of Quebec, where the British Army added to its fame, by a subscription to the funds for this imperial memorial.

MR. CHURCHILL

The consideration of matters relating to this important celebration has been confined to the arrangements for and programme of the visit which His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales (accompanied by a powerful squadron of the British Fleet) has graciously signified his intention of paying to Canada at the end of July next —an intimation which has given much lively pleasure both here and in the Dominion. The question of a subscription has not yet come before His Majesty's Government, and I am, therefore, not at present in a position to make any statement with reference to it.
