§ Mr. LUPTON (Lincolnshire, Sleaford)I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board how many persons have been received into local prisons for offences against the Vaccination Acts each year since 1873.
§ Mr. GLADSTONEI beg leave to answer this Question. It is not possible to give this information exactly. From a Return laid before this House in June, 1881, it appears that from 1st January, 1868, to 31st July, 1879, 138 persons were imprisoned for offences against the Vaccination Acts; from a similar Return published in 1890 the number imprisoned between 31st July, 1879, and 8th August, 1889, appears to have been 113. For further details reference should be made to these Returns. For the last eight years the figures were as follows:—
