HC Deb 05 March 1908 vol 185 cc890-1
Mr. VINCENT KENNEDY (Cavan, W.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he will say whether the Estates Commissioners have yet made an offer to the syndicate owning the Crookenden and Casey estate, county Cavan; how many tenants are concerned in this matter; when was the inspection of the estate completed; and, if the offer has not yet been made to the owners, will he say when it is likely to be made.

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners inform me that their inspector's Report on the estate referred to was received in May, 1907, and that a preliminary estimate of the price which the Commissioners are prepared to offer has been furnished to the owners, and accepted by them. The Commissioners hope to issue their formal offer for the purchase of the estate at an early date. About 469 tenants are concerned in the matter.
