HC Deb 04 March 1908 vol 185 cc703-4
MR. C. MACVEIGH

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the level crossing on the County Donegal Joint Committee Railway line, which is about half a mile from Ballinamore station, at which there is no gatekeeper, but is under the control of an efficient stationmaster, who would be held responsible if an accident occurred, but who is so far away from the crossing he can exercise no proper supervision over the gates, and when trains are passing can give no attention whatever to the crossing; whether he is aware that there is no porter or assistant at this station to close the gates or prevent the people who use the crossing from opening them at risk to themselves and leaving one gate standing across the line in front of the incoming train and thereby exposing the travelling public to danger, and whether he will take immediate steps to have this state of things remedied.

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE

My attention has not been previously called to this crossing, but I will communicate with the Joint Committee and inform the hon. Member of the result.
