HC Deb 03 March 1908 vol 185 cc517-8
CAPTAIN J. CRAIG (Down, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Admiralty what is the number of naval pensioners in receipt of pensions under 2s a day who, as regards conduct and other qualifications, are duly eligible for but are denied the Greenwich Hospital age pension.

* MR. GEORGE LAMBERT

The precise number could not be ascertained without the expenditure of much labour and time.

CAPTAIN J. CRAIG

Are there thousands of such cases?

* MR. GEORGE LAMBERT

I cannot give the information with any degree of accuracy.

CAPTAIN J. CRAIG

Cannot the hon. Gentleman give an approximate number?

* MR. GEORGE LAMBERT

No; I am afraid it would be pure guesswork.
