MR. LLEWELYN WILLIAMS (Carmarthen District)had on the Paper the following Question:—To ask the Prime Minister, whether the Royal Commission recently appointed to make an inventory of the ancient and historical monuments and constructions from the earliest times to the year 1707, and to specify those which seem worthy of preservation, has yet commenced its labours; whether it is the intention of the Government to take steps to preserve the ancient monuments specified by the Commission; and whether he is prepared to recommend the appointment of a similar Commission for the discovery and preservation of ancient and historical monuments in Wales. On being called upon to put the Question the hon. Member said: I am not responsible for the form in which this Question appears on the Paper; I endeavoured to put a sensible question, but if you read it through you will find, if the first part is correct the last part is unnecessary, and as a protest against the action of the clerks at the Table, I refuse to put the Question. Instead I shall ask leave to substitute the following Question.
