HC Deb 02 March 1908 vol 185 c323
MR. DUFFY

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland how far the negotiations have advanced for the purchase of the Castle Lambert estate of Mr. F. Shaw Taylor; and, having regard to the fact that two extra police barracks are maintained at Moor Park and Castle Lambert in connection with this property, will he urge upon the Estates Commissioners the advisability of dealing immediately and without delay with this property.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Estates Commissioners have furnished the owner with a preliminary estimate of the price which they are prepared to offer for the property in question, but the owner is not satisfied with the price. The negotiations are pending. As regards the temporary police stations referred to, I may mention that the police are engaged upon other duties besides protection duty in connection with the property.
