HC Deb 02 March 1908 vol 185 c324
MR. DUFFY

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether any proposals for the sale of the Brown estate, Glones, near Athenry, were made by the owners to the Estates Commissioners; and whether, seeing that the district contains a large number of very small holdings, he will give instructions to the Commissioners to accelerate the purchase of this property.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Estates Commissioners are negotiating for the purchase of several estates in county Galway of which the owner is named Brown or Browne, and they are unable to identify the particular estate referred to in the Question. If the hon. Member will give fuller particulars, further inquiries will be made.
