HC Deb 29 June 1908 vol 191 c338
MR. J. MURPHY

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Commissioners of National Education in Ireland are aware that the voice of their senior inspector at Portarlington is so weak as frequently to be inaudible to the children; that he is angry when teachers repeat to the children what he says; and that in consequence of this defect teachers suffer; will the Commissioners take steps to ascertain if he is physically unfit for his office; and, if so, will they retire him on pension.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Commissioners of National Education inform me that they are not aware that the facts are as suggested in the Question, and that they do not propose to take any action in the matter.
