§ MR. VERNEY (Buckinghamshire, N.)To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he will state what are the Customs duties imposed upon hops in 71 various foreign countries, together with the corresponding Excise duties, if any.
(Answered by Mr. Kearley.) The rates of import duty imposed on hops in various foreign countries are stated at page 571 of the Return "Foreign Import Duties, 1907" (Cd. 3859). I am not aware that Excise duties are levied on hops in any of the principal hop-producing countries.
