HC Deb 30 July 1908 vol 193 c1737
MR. MUNRO FERGUSON (Leith Burghs)

To ask the Prime Minister whether, in view of the low price of raw material, the increased numbers of the unemployed on the North-East Coast, and the imminence of wasteful local relief works, he will consider the expediency of expediting those naval works at Rosyth, which are necessary to the Fleet and which would offer a large field for labour.

(Answered by Mr. Asquith.) As has already been stated by my right hon. friend the First Lord of the Admiralty, the contract will be placed as soon as possible, and it is proposed to make provision in its terms for a premium to be paid to the contractor for completion of the work before the contract time.
