§ MR. WALSH (Lancashire, Ince)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been directed to a case reported on 16th June, in which the evidence showed that a policeman named Wilkinson, acting as agent for a company entitled the Provincial Homes Investment Company, had induced a woman named Poynton to subscribe sums amounting to £37 10s. to 1757 the said company; whether he is aware that Judge Parry stated that the company was really and essentially a fraudulent concern; whether it is in accordance with police office regulations for constables to act as agents of societies; and, if not, will he take steps to prevent similar action by police officers in future.
