VINCENT KENNEDY (Cavan, W.)To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland if he will state whether the Estates Commissioners have received a reply from the owners of the Crookenden and Casey Estates, County Cavan, to their formal offer for the purchase of this estate; and will he state the effect of the same, with the dates of the offer and reply.
(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Estates Commissioners' offer to purchase the estate in question was dated the 7th instant. They have not yet received a reply to it. It would be contrary to their practice to make any statement as to the details of pending negotiations.
