HC Deb 29 July 1908 vol 193 c1463
MR. HAMAR GREENWOOD (York)

To ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, whether any, and, if so, how many, applications have been made for small holdings to the County Council of the North Riding of Yorkshire; what is the acreage, if any, already granted for small holdings; and whether the Board is aware that this county council has suggested to any possible applicants that they should apply to local landlords for small holdings and not rely on the county council.

(Answered by Sir Edward Strachey.) We are informed that 288 applications have been received for 5,494 acres, but no small holdings have as yet been actually provided. The Board are not aware that the council have suggested that applicants should be made to landlords, but we will at once make inquiry on the point.
