To ask the Paymaster-General if he can state by what authority a form has been issued to officers on retired pay demanding full particulars of their incomes from all sources, private and official, to be forwarded without delay to the Paymaster-General.

(Answered by Mr. Causton.) Under the Finance Acts the officers of His Majesty's Paymaster-General are assessors of income-tax and act with regard to the collection of income-tax under the authority of the Commissioners of Inland Revenue.
