HC Deb 22 July 1908 vol 193 c66
MR. STANLEY WILSON (Yorkshire, E.R., Holderness)

To ask the Secretary of State for War what circumstances have occurred since Monday, 29th June, involving a substantial reduction of British garrisons overseas to the extent of four battalions of infantry and one regiment of cavalry.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane). The hon. Member's Question is not understood. The decision to reduce the South African garrison by one regiment of cavalry and four battalions of infantry was fully explained in the Memorandum on Army Estimates presented to the House in February.
