I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps the Government are taking as to the inquiry into the liquor traffic in Southern Nigeria, suggested by the Secretary of State for the Colonies to the deputation from the Native Races Committee on 7th July.

The Secretary of State is in communicaton with the Committee as to the inquiry, and in a letter, dated the 18th instant, has invited their suggestions as to the manner in which it should be carried out.
