HC Deb 21 July 1908 vol 192 c1713
MR. MONTAGU (Cambridgeshire, Chesterton)

I beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can now say what decision he has arrived at with regard to the repayment by the Treasury of the expenses incurred by county councils in ascertaining the demand for small holdings.

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE

After careful consideration I have come to the conclusion that one-half of the out-of-pocket expenses incurred by a county council in ascertaining the demand for small holdings might properly be refunded by the Exchequer. In due course, a proposal to this effect will be submitted to Parliament.
