HC Deb 20 July 1908 vol 192 cc1454-5
MR. GLENDINNING (Antrim, N.)

To ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if he can state the amount of revenue Inagua Island, Bahamas, West Indies, contributes to Nassau, and what is Nassau's outlay in Inagua; if he is aware that a private individual has recently repaired the Government wharf at Matthewtown, Nassau, having refused to disburse the amount spent in repairs; and, if so, is there any means of preventing Nassau from using revenue for pleasure resorts and auto roads for the use of visitors.

(Answered by Colonel Seely.) The Secretary of State is unable to supply information on the points referred to, and before making inquiry of the Governor would be glad of a clearer statement of the particulars desired. I presume that my hon. friend in speaking of Nassau, refers to the central government of the Bahamas, of which Nassau is the capital.
