§ MR. S. COLLINS (Lambeth, Kennington)I beg to ask the President of the Board of Education whether, seeing that the administration of the Necessitous Children Act has not proved 610 to have been the success that was anticipated, owing to some of the authorities not availing themselves of the opportunity of adopting the Act, he will consider the advisability of amending the said Act as it applies to London, and make it compulsory instead of optional.
§ THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION (Mr. RUNCIMAN,) DewsburyI beg to refer the hon. Member to the Answer given by my predecessor on 3rd March, to the effect that the extent of the Government programme this session precludes the possibility of considering the suggestion.
