I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for India what are the present rates for the inland parcel post in India; and whether, in view of the surplus revenue derived from this source, it is proposed to make any reduction thereon.

Up to October, 1907, the rate was 2d. for ¾ lb., 4d. for 1 lb., 6d. for 2 lbs., and so on up to 2s. for 11 lbs. with special rates for heavier parcels; but the rate for light parcels has now been reduced to 2d. for 1 lb., 4d. for 2 lbs., and so on up to 1s. 1Od. for 11 lbs. It is not at present proposed to make a further reduction.
