CLAUDE HAYI beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any sums have been issued to Jamaica under Section 4 of the Public Works Act 1907; whether any applications have been received for loans; and what communications, if any, have passed between His Majesty's Government and that of Jamaica on the subject of financial aid for Jamaica.
§ THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. HOBHOUSE,) Bristol, E.Application has recently been made by Jamaica for the advance of £50,000 as the first instalment of the loan authorised by Section 4 of the Public Works Loans Act, 1907, and the money will be advanced in the course of the next few days.
