HC Deb 01 July 1908 vol 191 cc766-7
MR. WEIR (Ross and Cromarty)

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland if he will state why the Report on the sanitary condition of Stornoway is not obtainable by Members of this House, seeing that a similar Report on the sanitary condition of the Lews issued when the late Government was in office was readily available.

MR. SINCLAIR

The Report referred to by my hon. friend is of a different character from the former Report on the sanitary condition of the Lews to which my hon. friend alludes, and it is not considered necessary to give it the same publicity.

MR. REES

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the people of Stornoway have twice held indignation meetings to protest against the insanitary character attributed by the hon. Member to their sanitary and salubrious island?

MR.WEIR

I have had numerous communications showing that the hon. Member knows nothing about the matter.

MR. REES

But I can supply proof of what I have said.

MR. SINCLAIR

I shall be glad to have any information.
