HC Deb 01 July 1908 vol 191 c767

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland, in view of the need for land by crofters and cottars in the Highland crofting counties, will steps be taken to prevent land which is suitable for profitable occupation by the people being converted into deer forest, especially bearing in mind that in recent years some of the best arable land in the Highlands has been thus taken for deer.

My hon. friend is already aware of the land policy of the Government which would have made further land available for occupation by the people, and I am not able to make any further pronouncement at the present time.
