HC Deb 01 July 1908 vol 191 c741
MR. RIDSDALE (Brighton)

To ask the President of the Local Government Board if he is aware that the use of coal residues in reinforced concrete for building purposes has been forbidden through out Germany on account of its danger whether such materials are in common use in this country; and, if so, what steps, if any, he proposes to take.

(Answered by Mr. John Burns.) I have no official information as to the use of the materials referred to being prohibited for building purposes in Germany. I have, however, seen some statements in the newspapers to this effect. I am aware that these materials are in common use in this country, and I propose to obtain some further information as to the result of such use, and also as to how the matter has been dealt with in Germany.
