HC Deb 27 February 1908 vol 185 c25
SIR WILLIAM BULL (Hammersmith)

To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether his attention has been called to the demand of the Walker Trustees of Edinburgh for a fee of £3 6s 8d from all knights bachelor of the United Kingdom; and, having regard to the fact that all fees for knighthood were abolished in 1902, will he state what steps he proposes to take, if any.

(Answered by Mr. Runciman.) I am aware that the Walker Trustees, as representing the Heritable Usher of Scotland, have applied for the fees in question to those who have received the honour of knighthood; but the Treasury have been advised that the right of the trustees to such fees is confined to the cases of knighthoods conferred upon Scotsmen or upon Englishmen in Scotland.
