HC Deb 27 February 1908 vol 185 cc40-1
SIR HOWARD VINCENT (Sheffield, Central)

I beg to ask the Undersecretary of State for the Colonies, if the Reports on his recent visit to African Colonies will be laid upon the Table.

THE UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Mr. CHURCHILL,) Manchester, N.W.

Sir, I have submitted to the Secretary of State a series of reports and communications upon various public matters with which I had an opportunity of becoming personally acquainted in Malta, Cyprus, Northern Somaliland, British East Africa, and Uganda. These reports must be regarded as confidential minutes for the information of my noble friend and certainly could not be published in any form.

SIR HOWARD VINCENT

May I ask, if we are not to have the benefit of these reports in any shape or form, and whether the official reports are those which are now appearing in the Strand Magazine?

MR. CHURCHILL

The reports which I have furnished are regarded as confidential, and will not be published in any form.

SIR HOWARD VINCENT

I shall raise this question again.
