CAPTAIN CRAIGTo ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, if he will state the percentage of members of the Church of Ireland 1739 in the police force stationed in Queen's County who are on the promoted list.
(Answered by Mr. Cherry.) The Inspector General informs me that it would be contrary to practice, and would in his opinion be injurious to the interests of the Royal Irish Constabulary, to give information as to the religious persuasion of members of the force whose names are on the promotion list. The question of religion is never taken into account in dealing with promotions.
