DUNDAS WHITE (Dumbartonshire)I beg to ask Mr. Attorney-General whether his attention has been directed to the fact that many automatic machines are so constructed as to, and that they in fact do, continue to invite, receive, and retain coins after their contents are exhausted; and whether he will consider what steps should be taken to stop this fraud on the public.

With regard to the practice suggested to be a fraud on the public, that depends on whether or not the persons who expose these machines do so knowing that they will have a fraudulent effect and that there will be no equivalent return for the money dropped into the slot. That would be somewhat difficult I to prove.
