§ MR. J. WARD (Stoke-on-Trent)To ask the Secretary of State for War the number of soldiers who were in prison on 31st December, 1907, under sentence of court martial; and whether any, and, if so, how many, were imprisoned by field courts martial in the South African War.
(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) 177 soldiers were in prisons on 31st December last under sentence of court martial, of whom only one was imprisoned by order of field court martial in the South African War.
