HC Deb 18 December 1908 vol 198 cc2227-8
MR. BRAMSDON

To ask the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will state what are the particular matters the Departmental Committee the Admiralty have recently appointed in connection with naval discipline are to inquire into, and will the subjects of disrating, the stopping of men's leave automatically on their being put in the Report, and the other punishments referred to in the loyal appeal from the lower deck form subjects for the Committee's consideration and Report.

(Answered by Mr. McKenna.) A Committee has been appointed to consider the possibility of a scheme for adopting in naval prisons a system similar to that in force in military detention barracks; and the matters referred to by my hon. friend are not germane to the inquiry.
