HC Deb 17 December 1908 vol 198 cc2071-2
MR. SNOWDEN

To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state if it is the practice of the Board of Inland Revenue to make deductions by way of fines from the salaries of its officers for alleged breach of official Regulations; and, if so, will he say by what authority the Board are empowered to violate the spirit and letter of the Truck Act.

(Answered by Mr. Lloyd-George.) Where circumstances warrant it, the Board of Inland Revenue punish breaches of Regulations by reducing the salaries of Inland Revenue officers; and I am advised that in such cases the Truck Acts do not apply.
