To ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies what number of slaves have been emancipated under the East Africa Protectorate Legal Status of Slavery Ordinance, 1907; and what amount of compensation has been paid under it.

(Answered by Colonel Seely.) The Secretary of State has no recent information on the matters referred to by the hon. Gentleman, but will cause inquiry to be made.
