HC Deb 04 December 1908 vol 197 cc1758-9
MR. LANE-FOX (Yorkshire, W. R., Barkston Ash)

To ask the President of the Board of Education if he will say what is the proportion of local education authorities that include the Apostles' Creed in their syllabus of religious instruction to be given under the Cowper-Temple Clause.

(Answered by Mr. Runciman.) I regret I can only refer the hon. Member to the Return of Religious Instruction in Council Schools, issued by the Board of Education in 1906 (No. 115). In a considerable number of areas the syllabus varies in individual schools, and it is not possible to give accurate particulars of the number in which the Apostles' Creed is included.
