HC Deb 28 April 1908 vol 187 c1063
MR. BARRIE (Londonderry, N.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether, having regard to the fact that the Dairies, Cowsheds, and Milkshops (Ireland) Order, 1908, is compulsory, and that its provisions are for the purpose of improving the general health of the community and assisting to stamp out the disease of tuberculosis, he will urge upon the Government the necessity of contributing one-half of the cost of giving effect to the Order.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Answer is in the negative. There is no reason why the Government should contribute one half of the cost of giving effect to the Order in question that would not equally apply to the case of every Order which aims at improving the general health of the community.
