HC Deb 29 May 1907 vol 174 c1643
MR. BELLAIRS (Lynn Regis)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade in view of the effect the declaration may have in saving naval expenditure on docks on the East Coast, whether he can indicate if the proposed legislation for the port of London next year will include a proposal for a dock capable of being used by the largest vessels such as a private dock company has power to construct at the present moment; and whether there is any reason to believe that the company in question are abstaining from exercising the powers conferred on them by Act of Parliament because of the uncertainty about future legislation.

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE

My hon. friend will readily understand that I am not in a position at present to make a statement as to the provisions which will be contained in the Bill which I hope to introduce next year, but one of its aims will be to improve the accommodation in the port of London. As regards the latter part of the Question I am not able to express an opinion.
